Edward Scissorhands (1990)

I Really liked this movie. This was the last Tim Burton film i had to watch for my Midterm and I think it was a great one to end on. This film screams Burton, with the bland houses compared to the german expressionist style with Eds house. Ed compared to everyone else, his quirks and his outsider mentality.  Overall this movie was great, I loved the character development from all the main characters, and i loved the full circle moment at the end.  While i really like this movie, there are some things that i think are kind of unessesary. For instance, when bad things just kept happening to Ed, like we get it, hes gonna have to go back, you dont have to rub it in yknow. Also why does Joyce exist, I mean she just needs to touch grass, and get some therapy. I mean she took a young person (we dont know how old he is but considering his relationship with kim im guessing like 17-18) who is severely unsocialized with scissors for hands and tries to seduce him, and once he rejects him, she sa

Beetlejuice (1988)

This movie is ok. its not my favorite Tim Burton movie, but I watched it when i was little so theres a little bit of nostalgia there for me.  I think visually its a little bit lackluster, like the sandworms and the timburtony special effects were cool and i enjoyed the visuals of the recently deceased, however, i think the film as a whole, is not as visually stimulating as some of Tim Burtons other films. despite this is was still very obviously tim burton, with the bland houses, stop motion monsters, and stark contrast between worlds and characters.  I wish the film focused more on Lydia like how the musical is, because the whole point of adam and barbaras characters is that they are boring. Not in a bad way but they are just normal people. I think Lydia couldve carried this movie. Overall, it was a good movie, but i wouldnt be heartbroken if someone had never seen it.

Alice In Wonderland (2010)

I liked this movie. I prefer the original animated version of alice in wonderland more but i think thats mostly due to nostalgia.  I keep saying the same things for all of these Tim Burton movies but the visual are so cool. they were very stimulating and really emulated the kind of acid trip sort of vibe that the story gives off. It had the stereotypical tim burton exaggerated characters and some wonky silhouettes (literally everyone in the red castle, ignoring the fact that they're fake.  I really liked the contrast that these films provide, like the contrast between everyone looking weird and being in dark clothes in the red kingdom compared to everyone being perfect and in white in the white kingdom. thats just one example but you get the point.  the main thing that bothered me was Alice, she was kind of annoying and everytime she said "its weird that this is all a dream" or " this is such a realistic dream" i wanted to slap her. also the way that the white

This movie was not my favorite. Again i really liked the visual aspect, to be fair its hard for me not to like a stop motion type of movie.  I think the reason I remember liking this movie so much is probably because of nostalgia. I remember watching this when i was little and loving it, but it just didn't hit the same this time. I thought the plot was a little dull. and the black and white movie didn't really help to keep me engaged. The pacing was painfully slow and the movie didn't really start until over half way through. This movie was the definition of fine. The visuals were cool but the coloring and the plot counteracted that. also the only character that i loved for the whole movie was Sparky. As much as i'm crapping on this movie i was pretty invested with sparky. I didnt care about the turtle godzilla or the vampire cat, but i was almost in tears when sparky died and when he died a second time. I don't have a lot to say about this movie.

Corpse Bride (2005)

I feel like this movie is really underrated. even if you don't like tim burton, this movie is a lot better than people say. The plot is slow and you could call it predictable. Like obviously emily cant marry viktor, and you know hes not going to kill himself to be with her, but something in the movie has you guessing. ive seen this movie before but the suspense was still there.  Even if you don't like the plot, i think the main selling point in this film is the visuals. It is very iconically tim burton with the buggy eyes and overall very unnatural silhouettes. It might just be me but i love that specific art style along with stop motion films. They provide a eerie sort of feeling with the stiff but still somehow smooth movements of the characters.  Character design aside, the coloring provided a lot more than just visual stimulation. I feel like it showed how Viktor felt in both worlds, with the underworld being bright and colorful while the land of the living is very muted
