Amadeus (1984)

Mr.H told me that this film is like if The Prestige didn't fumble the ending (i liked the ending of the Prestige but whatever.) I can for sure see elements of the Prestige in this film but i think the ending was even more confusing than it. There was no real explanation. I mean i understand the concept that Salieri killed Mozart, but its not really clear to me how he does. Does he work him to death? did he drive him insane with the whole masked guy asking for a funeral song thing? i really dont know. I also dont think this can really be compared to the Prestige. its a movie about revenge for sure, there are elements reflected in both films but the one sidedness of the revenge in this film is a major disconnect for me. I think the one sided revenge adds a lot to this story. it shows how consuming jealousy is  and i think it depicts Salieri getting absorbed by the jealousy and letting it drive him insane, even after Mozart is dead. however, it is not the same one upping, escalating h

Leo (2023)

this movie is honestly better than it should be. its a really cute film.  its not anything to call home about. i mean its a lizard whos an inspirational speaker? to be honest its a dumb concept. but its done really well. Leo is oddly comforting as a character, like he reminds me as my grandpa? not to compare my grandpa to a lizard but like the resemblance is there (sorry Alvis.)  i think that this movie is done super well. i think that all the character arcs were done well. they seemed a little bit forced at times sure but its a kids movie so i wasn't really expecting angst. i also love how theres every type of 5th grade stereotype in here. theres the yapper, the bully, the mean girl, the kid with allergies etc.  i did think that the music was a little bit out of place. like why are we singing? it kinda ate sometimes but it felt unnecessary.  ik this is a short blog, but i dont have a ton to say about this movie. it was cute, and for children. i liked it but also dont care about i

What Jennifer Did (2024)

Ive heard of this case before. i really like true crime and theres so many youtubers that i watch religiously that have talked about this case but this presented way more information than those videos did. This documentary did an amazing job at breaking down every little detail of the case. I also really enjoyed the insight that i gained into the police investigation system and how they go about investigating a homicide case and all the pieces that go into it.  Cinematically this was pretty good. some of the other True crime documentaries ive seen struggle to make it a movie instead of just an organized combination of evidence but that was not the case with this one. obviously the main driving force of this was the interrogation recordings and the eventual confession but they mixed in some cinematic elements which really helped this feel less like a documentary and more like an actual movie  one thing that this gave that other videos on this case didn't was the specific investigato

13 Going On 30 (2004)

Second hand embarrassment movies HURT me, But i really liked this movie. Ive read a book similar to this with like the amnesia tropes. I really enjoy that trope where people get amnesia and turn their whole life around.  i love how 2000s core this movie is. i mean i know that it was shot in the 2000s but i love it. the colors and everything. I also like how Jenna was dressing like how she would when she was younger, mixed with current fashion trends.  the message of this film was really important. like how we really cant turn back time so we should just be ourselves so we end up how were supposed to end up. i think that so many teenagers need to hear that. the one gripe i have about it is that jenna does just turn back time. like the whole message is that you cant turn back time, but she does which feels a little counter productive but i wanted her to get with matt so im glad she did.  i think this movies kind of a classic that people need to see at some point in their life. its not

We Have a Ghost (2023)

i think this might be in my top 5 and its a NETFLIX ORIGINAL but hear me out hear me out.  Disclaimer: i am writing this at 1AM and i am DELIRIOUS so i apologize in advance for how unhinged this blog is about to be  im obsessed with this movie. the concept? iconic. the characters? devoured every second of screen time. the visuals? i could watch Ernest all day its so satisfying.  I sobbed at the end of this movie which i know isnt saying a lot... because im me but like i had every right to cry. I refuse to spoil this movie so im not gonna say why i cried but i did and id do it again.  i dont even know where to start. i mean the plot concept as a whole is so interesting. it sounds like a stupid plot idea if i was to summarize it. like the general synopsis is a family finds a ghost in their house and go viral which causes the government to chase them around while kevin tries to help ernest move on. that sounds boring. but it is so not. i mean i was so invested the whole time.  The chara

The Dark Knight (2008)

I understand why i get yelled at when i tell people i hadnt seen this movie. Its so good.  I think the one thing i will always like about Christopher Nolan films is the coloring of his films. they scratch my brain. they are muted enough to match the tone of the story while still being vibrant and contrasting enough to keep your attention. I literally didnt want to look away from the screen.  Plotwise i liked it. superhero movies just usually arent my jam. dont get me wrong i like superhero movies, but they arent going to be in my top 10 really. This movie really pushed that envelope. its in my top 20 for sure. I really enjoy seeing Bruce grow and get comfortable with being batman. i think i just like how human Batman is. like at the end of the day. hes really just a guy. He has human issues, and copes with them in a (mostly) normal way.  alfred always slays.... thats it for this section. i dont need to say anything else  onto the villains. i find the joker kind of boring. not because t

To The Bone (2017)

TW: eating disorders  Ok so disclaimer, Ive personally never struggled with something like this so I am for sure ignorant on the actual disorder part of it so I'm not gonna say much as to that part of the film. Im gonna talk more about development and stuff like that.  To start. this movie is really pretty. the lighting and coloring of the movie really add to the dark gloomy way that Eli is feeling. In the beginning/ middle of the film, she is in all dark colors like green and black and the coloring also has a lot of these colors. Then when we get to the end of the movie when she is willing to actually get better and take the treatment seriously, she is wearing white and light gray, the sun is shining, and the coloring is overall more vibrant. I Really like how clothes are used to portray what stage of healing the characters are in. Luke, is in pretty colorful and fun clothes throughout the film and he gets progressivly more colorful as he continues to gain weight. However when he
