Wendell & Wild (2022)

Image
I feel like i haven't watched an animation in a minute and im a sucker for Claymation and Stop motion so this was a perfect watch. legally i have to talk about visuals. They were SO COOL. I loved the diversity in the characters and i also liked how the nuns looked like literal like rat people? idk. nuns are already kinda creepy and that just added to the vibe. I am a little biased to this type of animation style. i don't know why it just kinda scratches my brain.  The plot was really interesting. I really liked how quickly the plot progressed. It just really helped to keep me invested the whole time. usually im a little hesitant to watch horror/comedy movies because sometimes they lean too much into the comedy side or too much into the horror side and i feel like i was lied to. But this movie portrayed it really well.  The storyline of Kat was more serious while Wendell and Wilds storyline was much more comedical. It was nice to jump back and forth between the two. I think the

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

This movie was recommended to me after i watched Im Thinking of Ending Things and I was a little iffy about that movie but I loved this one. First things first, love cyclical movies. I love how it ended how it began. love it. Also, i loved how the directors portrayed the memories being erased. I feel like in other movies that explore erasing memories, they just sort of fade out. I really liked how in this movie, they ahd the buildings literally fall apart and things like that. It really helped potray the message of these memories were falling away from Joel.      Aside from the main plot i did really like the side story with the doctors doing the erasing. I dont want to spoil it but the twist at the end? *Chefs Kiss*      Ok so within the main plot with Joel and Clementine... I think that Clementine is toxic. Shes not a good partner. HOWEVER for some reason, im rooting for them. I think towards the end of the movie she becomes a lot more bearable. I also liked how we really didnt kno

Hello Goodbye and Everything In Between (2022)

First impressions. Super cool movie concept. Ive never seen a Rom-com where there is a actual deadline on the relationship but neither of the characters are dying. The score of this movie devoured. 10/10 songs and they fit the scenes that they play over really well. And the visuals of this movie were really good. I liked the more moody lighting and the coloring.  ok. Now for the actual movie. I really liked the plot. I liked how they showed the whole relationship before the "final goodbye" in the first like 30 minutes. It gave plenty of time for growth and development within characters. I also usually don't like the couples, like usually one is extremely unbearable, but i kinda liked this couple. Don't get me wrong, Clare is annoying as heck in this movie. But I think the main reason it bothers me is because I genuinely and rooting for this couple and she was the only force keeping them away from each other. Sometimes i stray away from romance movies because they ar

Im Thinking of Ending Things (2020)

This movie is so confusing. I Like this type of movie for sure but its so weird.  In the most broad way possible, this movie is about an imaginary couple on an imaginary road trip that a high school janitor who is considering suicide dreamed up. I got the idea that some aspect of this couple and this road trip was made up considering how the parents acted and how depending on when Lucia saw them, they were older or younger, and the dog kept on appearing out of thin air. The random cuts between the trip and the janitor confused me at first, but once i finished the movie it made a lot of sense. I think this movie is simultaneously really thought out, and not thought out at all. I know it's not really supposed to make sense, but I feel like this movie just didn't hit the way it was supposed to. I do really like the storyline and how the movie represents loneliness, illusions and fantasies. I like how the characters changing age or seemingly jumping story to story is really reflect

Elemental (2023)

Welcome to me watching all these newer disney movies because i've been procrastinating watching them. :) Buckle up baby.      This movie is so good. I might have a little bit of recency bias, but i'm obsessed with it. I like how as of recent, disney is covering more serious topics and more complex ones. This movie is very obviously about immigration and resolving some generational trauma. I was worried it was going to be very dumbed down, but they actually potrayed it in a very mature way. i think disney is good at that. making content digestible for kids without dumbing it down a painful amount.      ok so legally i have to talk about visuals becuase its my whole brand at this point. SO GOOD 10/10 i loved how, depending on their emotions, their elements look changed. idk i thought it was cool.      I actually think ember and wade are a cute couple. I always like when the guy falls first and the girl does not realize until later. always slays.

Barbie Movie (2023)

I really liked this movie. I feel like I always say this, but the visuals of movies are always my favorite part, and this movie did not disappoint. I loved how they implemented things that made you very aware that they are in a Barbie world, like the pool being solid, glasses not having liquid in them, everything down to barbie having naturally pointed feet. It was so fun to look at.  For the actual plot, i really liked it. I usually stray away from this type of movie because i feel like movies where feminism is kind of shoved into your face can be counterproductive, but this had a kind of opposite effect. The main thing I thought people could take away from it is how absurd the patriarchy is. Men typically can be unaware of the patriarchy because it has no negative affect on them, but in watching this, they can see how absurd the patriarchy is, because they are the "victims" in a way. i think that this movie  is more complex than just a "girl power" movie, but you

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

I didnt watch this movie in theatres because i thought having Chris Pratt as Mario was dumb but i actually liked the movie. The movie itself was BEAUTIFUL. like the DETAIL???? I really liked the art style. the coloring really scratched my brain.      i really liked how they worked the game style into the movie. like the lateral tracking shot to reflect the games. working the game sound effects into the movie and working the powerups in. I just really liked it. I dont think its a movie that i would rewatch for the plot. It was overall pretty predictable but the movie itself is so cool looking. I feel bad for judging this movie so hard without watching it but i just despise chris pratt so much. I dont even know why. I just cant. But i did actually like the characters. Jack Black as bowser was an amazing idea. Peach is such a cool character and i like how they did not make her a damsel in distress. Overall the movie was pretty good. Its not one of my top movies by any means but i get wh

Pickpocket (1959)

This was kinda my first all black and white movie. Its in french so i had to use subtitles but honeslty the older i get the less subtitles bother me. I used to not be able to watch a movie if it had subtitles because they were all i could focus on.      This movie was overall pretty ok. I thought the plot was pretty interesting. I liked the compilations of the theft throughout. I also liked how we can see the main character get better at pickpocketing throughout the movie. However, I didn't like the pacing. There were long bouts of silence or just room tone for like two minute periods and i was just bored. I understand that its to represent how quiet this mans life is and how kind of lonely it is but i still didn't like it. to be honest, I had to put the movie on 2x speed to keep me from dnfing it but thats my ADHDs fault. I also was a little confused with the plot. There wasnt a whole lot going on but there was still conflict??? i dont know. Overall the movie was pretty

Puss In Boots : The Last Wish

I've already seen this movie but my boyfriend hadn't seen it which seems like a crime so i made him watch it. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT. i cried so much. I love the arcs that all of the characters have. They have a really creative way of showing character arcs in a way where the arcs are all pretty basic and stereotypical but its still super entertaining and you still feel super proud of all the characters. Like with the goldilocks arc she just learns to appreciate her family but shes such an interesting character and her family dynamic is so interesting that you get so invested. PERRITO IS THE BEST CHARACTER. HE MADE ME SOB. I LOVE HIM. I dont have that much to say other than that because ive already seen it but moral of the story i love it.
