Culpa Mia (My Fault)

I saw this movie all over my TikTok a few months ago, but I never actually watched it just because I thought it looked like a dumb movie. It seemed like a easy start for this blogs so I decided to just watch it. It really wasn't that bad. I usually avoid movies in other languages because i end up focusing more on the captions than the actual movie, but for some reason I didn't have a hard time watching this movie and keeping up. Going into watching the movie I knew a bit about it which definitely helped me understand what was going on.
I honestly did really like it. The lighting was always really cool, especially during the party and racing scenes. I thought the love story was cute and I've always really liked the whole enemies to lovers trope. HOWEVER, the stepbrother and stepsister trope is GROSS. That was my main turn off of the movie. I do think that Noah and Nick are a cute couple, and I think that they could really help each other grow. BUT THEY NEED TO FIGURE OUT THE STEPSIBLINGS SITUATION. If we just ignore the incest situation, then I'm rooting for Noah and Nick. I think that the characters compliment each other really well and you can tell the actors have really good chemistry.
I'm just gonna ignore the whole step siblings thing for the rest of the blog. Anyways, I do think Noah is a good character. I think she has a lot of potential to be a really cool female lead. However, she does have that "I'm not like other girls" energy which makes me want to slam my head into a wall. Especially at the beginning of the movie, she's really entitled and rude. I can't really blame her though because if i had her mom as a mom I would be so bummed. Her mom is literally the worst, she didn't realise that she was uncomfortable when Dan was there and all she does is get mad at Noah for existing.
Now Nick. I already have a hard time liking him as a love interest because thats my brothers name but whatever. That aside, i really like Nicks personality. He's kinda a douche at the beginning of the movie but he's such a great guy at the end. 10/10 character development. however, I think the gang stuff is really dumb. They definitely only put in the gang stuff so that there was a in for the ending. Also, I don't know how Spanish gangs work, but the gang feels unrealistically separated from Nicks life. The only time they interact is when they're at parties or races and then there's basically nothing else, which is feel like isn't how gangs work.
Overall I thought the movie was pretty good. The camera work was really creative and I thought they did a really good job with the lighting. I was worried that the script was gonna be trash, but I was pleasantly surprised with how the writing was. Honestly I think it was a good rom-com ish movie and I'm gonna watch the second one when it comes out.

  1. I love how you instantly analyzed the stepsibling thing. You did a lot here and I love this. If you are spending too much time this, you are allowed to cut back a little bit. But if you are having a good time, keep it up!
