The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

 

This movie was recommended to me after i watched Im Thinking of Ending Things and I was a little iffy about that movie but I loved this one. First things first, love cyclical movies. I love how it ended how it began. love it. Also, i loved how the directors portrayed the memories being erased. I feel like in other movies that explore erasing memories, they just sort of fade out. I really liked how in this movie, they ahd the buildings literally fall apart and things like that. It really helped potray the message of these memories were falling away from Joel. 

    Aside from the main plot i did really like the side story with the doctors doing the erasing. I dont want to spoil it but the twist at the end? *Chefs Kiss* 

    Ok so within the main plot with Joel and Clementine... I think that Clementine is toxic. Shes not a good partner. HOWEVER for some reason, im rooting for them. I think towards the end of the movie she becomes a lot more bearable. I also liked how we really didnt know if they were gonna get back together or not. I just overall really like that real suspense in romance movies where theyre not super predictable. 

overall i LOVED this movie. it was soo good. this is 100% my type of movie. whatever this genre is. love it.

    Both Joel and Clementine are toxic. But yeah, Clem is a lot.

Ive heard of this case before. i really like true crime and theres so many youtubers that i watch religiously that have talked about this case but this presented way more information than those videos did. This documentary did an amazing job at breaking down every little detail of the case. I also really enjoyed the insight that i gained into the police investigation system and how they go about investigating a homicide case and all the pieces that go into it.  Cinematically this was pretty good. some of the other True crime documentaries ive seen struggle to make it a movie instead of just an organized combination of evidence but that was not the case with this one. obviously the main driving force of this was the interrogation recordings and the eventual confession but they mixed in some cinematic elements which really helped this feel less like a documentary and more like an actual movie  one thing that this gave that other videos on this case didn't was the specific invest...

Amadeus (1984)

Mr.H told me that this film is like if The Prestige didn't fumble the ending (i liked the ending of the Prestige but whatever.) I can for sure see elements of the Prestige in this film but i think the ending was even more confusing than it. There was no real explanation. I mean i understand the concept that Salieri killed Mozart, but its not really clear to me how he does. Does he work him to death? did he drive him insane with the whole masked guy asking for a funeral song thing? i really dont know. I also dont think this can really be compared to the Prestige. its a movie about revenge for sure, there are elements reflected in both films but the one sidedness of the revenge in this film is a major disconnect for me. I think the one sided revenge adds a lot to this story. it shows how consuming jealousy is  and i think it depicts Salieri getting absorbed by the jealousy and letting it drive him insane, even after Mozart is dead. however, it is not the same one upping, escalating h...

No Hard Feelings (2023)

Ok. To get this out of the way. I don't love Comedies. movies that are trying to be funny aren't super funny to me.  Anyways. this movie was pretty good first things first. Age Gap? HORRENDOUS. 32 AND 19???? WHAT DO YOU MEAN??? i dont care if the relationship is supposed to be fake. The whole point of the movie is she gets hired to date Percy and she gets the car when she has sex with him. THAT FEELS GROSS. thats like Leonardo DiCaprio Level. If we put that aside.... I thought the movie was pretty decent. I honestly saw it as more of a coming of age movie than a comedy. Its a huge commentary on the "American Dream" and how in order to have basic necessities (like a car/ house) you have to go to extreme lengths.
