Alice In Wonderland (2010)

 

I liked this movie. I prefer the original animated version of alice in wonderland more but i think thats mostly due to nostalgia. 

I keep saying the same things for all of these Tim Burton movies but the visual are so cool. they were very stimulating and really emulated the kind of acid trip sort of vibe that the story gives off. It had the stereotypical tim burton exaggerated characters and some wonky silhouettes (literally everyone in the red castle, ignoring the fact that they're fake. 

I really liked the contrast that these films provide, like the contrast between everyone looking weird and being in dark clothes in the red kingdom compared to everyone being perfect and in white in the white kingdom. thats just one example but you get the point. 

the main thing that bothered me was Alice, she was kind of annoying and everytime she said "its weird that this is all a dream" or " this is such a realistic dream" i wanted to slap her. also the way that the white queen walked made me wanna scream. 

Overall it was a pretty good movie, nothing to call home about, but a good movie.

    This is the era of Burton where I have to kind of lower my expectations. Digital effects somehow smooth out some of the punk rock that Burton is known for.

Mr.H told me that this film is like if The Prestige didn't fumble the ending (i liked the ending of the Prestige but whatever.) I can for sure see elements of the Prestige in this film but i think the ending was even more confusing than it. There was no real explanation. I mean i understand the concept that Salieri killed Mozart, but its not really clear to me how he does. Does he work him to death? did he drive him insane with the whole masked guy asking for a funeral song thing? i really dont know. I also dont think this can really be compared to the Prestige. its a movie about revenge for sure, there are elements reflected in both films but the one sidedness of the revenge in this film is a major disconnect for me. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

  This movie was recommended to me after i watched Im Thinking of Ending Things and I was a little iffy about that movie but I loved this one. First things first, love cyclical movies. I love how it ended how it began. love it. Also, i loved how the directors portrayed the memories being erased. I feel like in other movies that explore erasing memories, they just sort of fade out. I really liked how in this movie, they ahd the buildings literally fall apart and things like that. It really helped potray the message of these memories were falling away from Joel.      Aside from the main plot i did really like the side story with the doctors doing the erasing. I dont want to spoil it but the twist at the end? *Chefs Kiss*      Ok so within the main plot with Joel and Clementine... I think that Clementine is toxic. Shes not a good partner. Dial M for Murder (1954)

When I first got assigned this movie, I was worried that it would be too scary and that I wouldn't enjoy it. I am really not a fan of horror movies at all. However, this movie was not scary at all. It was really just a murder mystery and kind of a drama and I really liked it. I think that the way that the movie idea is so simple makes it a lot easier to understand and it gives the director so much more opportunity for detail and little easter eggs. I was really invested in this film and I felt genuinely immersed in it. I hated that I knew what was actually happening and I knew that Margot was telling the truth but it seemed like no one believed her. Whenever they said that they had no witnesses I kept thinking that I saw it, like I was somehow in the movie and that I could be used as a witness. I love how wholeheartedly hateable they make Tony.
