Dial M for Murder (1954)
When I first got assigned this movie, I was worried that it would be too scary and that I wouldn't enjoy it. I am really not a fan of horror movies at all. However, this movie was not scary at all. It was really just a murder mystery and kind of a drama and I really liked it. I think that the way that the movie idea is so simple makes it a lot easier to understand and it gives the director so much more opportunity for detail and little easter eggs. I was really invested in this film and I felt genuinely immersed in it. I hated that I knew what was actually happening and I knew that Margot was telling the truth but it seemed like no one believed her. Whenever they said that they had no witnesses I kept thinking that I saw it, like I was somehow in the movie and that I could be used as a witness. I love how wholeheartedly hateable they make Tony. Like he's literally the worst. I also liked how the worse Margot's life got, the darker her clothes got. I thought it was a really interesting detail. I don't want to spoil the whole movie but overall the ending was really satisfying and I liked the film a lot.
Oh, I didn't think it would be too scary for you. But I can imagine this thing crushing in 3D.
