Red White and Royal Blue (2023)

I loved this movie. I read the book forever ago which made me a little apprehensive about watching the movie. Because i feel like the movie never gets on teh books level. but i was plenestly surprised. I really thought the casting was so good and the coloring, literally everything down to alex's clothes was perfect.  Ok. On to the actual movie. I obviously like the very pro-women in politics message, with a woman president and prime minister, and a seemingly all women cabinet. I don't even know what to say about this movie i just really liked it.  for the actual relationship. I feel like slow burns and forced proximity tropes are hard to make not seem super cringey and unrealistic, but this movie articulated it really well. Alex and Henry really seemed like they hated each other in the beginning. I also like how the whole forbidden romance trope was worked into it. Usually with those the whole resolution is super unrealistic but in this resolution, with the groups of people ra...

Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood (2022)

This movie was the definition of Ok. It was honestly really boring. I mean it had some alright plot points but it was more documentary styled then what I was hoping for. I mean like the concept is interesting, but the whole forst 45 minutes was jsut this guy talking about what life was like in the 60s. Like i could not care less. I wanted more dialouge between the characters and i wanted more actual conversations. Instead i got a montage of what the movie was about while a monotone voice talked about wanting to be in space for an hour and a half. Im really giving this movie a lot of crap but i think it did what it wanted to do. I think it wanted to make a fake scenario and a fake story of a kid astronaut look real and like a documentary but i was jsut so bored. it felt like the whole movie could've been a 15 minute short film. Also, this was my first rotoscoping style movie. I wasn not a fan. It honestly made me a bit uncomfortable. I think i wouldve liked the movie more if it wa...

Dial M for Murder (1954)

When I first got assigned this movie, I was worried that it would be too scary and that I wouldn't enjoy it. I am really not a fan of horror movies at all. However, this movie was not scary at all. It was really just a murder mystery and kind of a drama and I really liked it. I think that the way that the movie idea is so simple makes it a lot easier to understand and it gives the director so much more opportunity for detail and little easter eggs. I was really invested in this film and I felt genuinely immersed in it. I hated that I knew what was actually happening and I knew that Margot was telling the truth but it seemed like no one believed her. Whenever they said that they had no witnesses I kept thinking that I saw it, like I was somehow in the movie and that I could be used as a witness. I love how wholeheartedly hateable they make Tony. Like he's literally the worst. I also liked how the worse Margot's life got, the darker her clothes got. I thought it was a really ...

Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy? An Animated Conversation with Noam Chomsky (2013)

Ive never seen anything even close to this movie before. It's a weird juxtaposition that the video is so visually stimulating but the actual content is more monotone and like listening to a podcast. The visuals are phenomenal. i like how bright and unrealistic the colors of the drawings are while being placed over a black and white photo  the message that this film is sending is weirdly hard to pick out. You would think it would be easy to pick out the message since they are literally jsut talking the whole time. its literally a conversation. But its actually a little hard to pick out. I think i struggled because this is clearly a conversation between 2 very smart people and people who know a lot about a very specific niche. Which i am not. So i think some of these concepts go a little over my head.  What i did pick up was that this film is very focused on Chomsky's philosophy, how he formed it, and what his opinions are on other philosophies. Its about understanding th...
